July News

We have reached the half way point of 2010, so we kick off the last half with our 4th of July Independence Day  Celebration. Today the US is witnessing many challenges, both personal and international. We are hopeful and positive that we will overcome these many obstacles. These are the times we can enjoy what Frankie Laine's music brings to us. Good memories from "Memories in Gold" can help us recall better times in our lives. Hits, like "Rawhide", "Sunny Side Of The Street", "Shine", "Jezebel", "Jealousy", "Moonlight Gambler", "Mule Train", "You Gave Me A Mountain", "Cry Of The Wild Goose", "I Believe", "That Lucky Old Sun", "High Noon", "That's My Desire" and of course, "We'll Be Together Again". Remembering where you were and what his music meant to you at that time, is truly amazing, and very very personal. The release from the hard reality of our day to day chores is lightened through the music of Frankie Laine.  "Team Frankie Laine" receives it's inspiration through comments from you, and people all over the world. We are always surprised from your descriptions of heart felt hits, and evan obscure songs, recorded by Frankie Laine. Songs that are connected to loving memories bring back warm feelings as you listen to his music. Team Frankie Laine was resting during the month of May after celebrating Frankie's 97th birthday and the presentation of the First San Diego Little Italy Legend Star. June will bring Fathers Day , please consider a special Frankie Laine DVD or CD for your Father or Grandfather. We offer more exclusive Frankie Laine products then anyone on the web. We're sure you will find a suitable special gift for your loved one.
Team Frankie Laine will continue to work on our Frankie Laine gift packages to senior centers across the country. We are continuing our communication with NARAS to finally honor Frankie Laine with a Lifetime Achievement Grammy in 2011. We have been working on this for many, many years, and I think 2011 might be the year it will really happen. "TFL" will not give up this goal for our beloved Frankie Laine.

 It's March 30th 2010 and we're celebrating Frankie Laine's 97th birthday here in San Diego's Little Italy. As we honor our famous singer, actor, entertainer, we are presenting Frankie Laine with the very first San Diego Little Italy Legend Star Plaque. Hundreds of friends and fans of our super star attended our salute to Mr. Rhythm. Team Frankie Laine and the Little Italy Association worked well together to make this event successful. The City of San Diego allowed us to block off Date Street in the heart of Little Italy, and set up a band stand for Frankie Laine's own Musical Director Benny Hollman and his award winning big band. Benny Hollman, also a member of Team Frankie Laine, was in charge of the musical program. The crowd  was entertained by several guest singers performing memorable Frankie Laine hits. The program began at 10:AM and concluded at 12 Noon. While the program was in full steam, adjacent to the band stand, Mary-Jo Coombs and Barbara Marino, Frankie Laine Team members, were handling the Frankie Laine products table. Once again the Nestle company furnished us with enough Baby Ruth Candy Bars to gift everyone. Remembering when the Baby Ruth Candy Bar sustained Frankie Laine during his hard times. Mary-Jo and Barbara would answer questions about Frankie's life, his music and his legendary career. As they made available his products, they were told many stories about the relationships that his loyal fans emotionally remembered. After the last song was performed, Jezebel, the musical portion of the program was complete. Jimmy Marino, a Team Frankie Laine member, directed everyone to convene in front of Frankie Laine's favorite restaurant in Little Italy, Trattoria Fantastica, for the Legend Star Plaque presentation. Frankie's long time friend, Father Joe, was first to speak. Father Joe got a call from God on his cell phone saying that Frankie was fine and singing better then ever. As Marcia LoVecchio and Jimmy Marino revealed the Legend Star Plaque, Father Joe sprinkled Holy water  and blessed the Plaque. Jimmy introduced Joe Busalacchi, owner of Trattoria Fantastica, who spoke about his 20 year relationship with Frankie Laine. Marco LiMandri, Chairman of the Little Italy Association was next to speak, followed by San Diego Councilmen Kevin Faulconer who presented a Proclamation making March 30th Frankie Laine day in San Diego. Jimmy read a congratulatory letter from the Mayor of San Diego, Jerry Sanders, and presented it to Marcia. In conclusion, Jimmy thanked everyone for honoring and supporting another successful salute to our beloved Frankie Laine. Marcia then  thanked Team Frankie Laine and the Little Italy Association for honoring Frankie Laine with the first San Diego Little Italy Legend Star Plaque.
